Short thought about what it means to live and die:
There is a kind of living that is not living at all. For if you live according to the flesh, you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
The second sentence comes from a meditation on Romans 8:13–actually, it is Romans 8:13 verbatim–noticing how Paul opposes life and death, as well as flesh and Spirit. It doesn’t matter how much you live according to the flesh, how fulfilling it seems, how much easier it is. To live according to the flesh is death, but to fight the deeds of the flesh by the Spirit is life.
