Westminster Theological Seminary Bookstore is offering Kevin DeYoung’s pamphlet, “Why Our Church Switched to the ESV,” free as a PDF download for one week. If you’ve ever wondered why so many evangelicals support and use the ESV, this is a good pamphlet for you to read. DeYoung gives a thorough but concise explanation of why he took the University Reformed Church from the NIV to the ESV, giving numerous reasons and examples for why he recommends the ESV translation. Learn how an “essentially literal” approach differs from “dynamic equivalence” in some concrete ways. At 32 pages, it’s a quick read, but a helpful one. It’s a great intro to translation philosophy, and one that I am happy to recommend and pass on to you.
